Everyone has questions

We believe that everyone should have the chance to explore the Christian faith, ask questions and share their point of view; wherever they are in the world.

First up there’s FOOD

Whether it’s a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch up over coffee and cake, food has a way of bringing people together. It’s no different at Alpha. Most sessions start with food because it’s a great way to build community and get to know each other.

Then a TALK

The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Usually around thirty minutes long and delivered over about eleven weeks, they can be given as a live talk or played as a video. They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? to Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?

What does it mean to “follow” Jesus?

We hear the language “follower of Jesus” all the time, but what does it mean to be a disciple, or apprentice, of the rabbi from Nazareth?  Put simply, it means you re-organise your life around three goals:

1. Be with Jesus
2. Become like Jesus
3. Do what Jesus did

That’s it. But that’s an entire life’s pursuit. It is not just an event on a Sunday, but a “way” of life in community around the teachings of Jesus. To live this way means we need to be transformed, from the inside out. Is this kind of deep, authentic radical change of character possible? Really? Even in the chaos of the modern, digital, urban world? The answer is: absolutely yes. Through teaching, practice, community, and the Holy Spirit, we can recover our humanity in apprenticeship to Jesus.

Developing leaders is a priority for all churches.  Research consistently demonstrates the clear link between leadership and the health and growth of a church.

And with the realities of mission and ministry in an ever changing culture, developing mission-minded leaders is a vital way of equipping the Church for the opportunities of the 21st century.

We’re committed to seeing Christians exercise leadership in a godly way in both their gathered church communities and in their Monday to Saturday lives.  Growing Leaders offers a great way to develop such leadership.

Growing Leaders is run over ten months with one session a month. There are three parts to the course, each one having a particular focus:

Part 1: Firm foundations for Christian leadership

Part 2: Key skills for Christian leadership

Part 3: Keeping faithful in Christian leadership

Between sessions, participants meet with their mentors to help them integrate what they are learning into their life and leadership.

For those desiring to take steps in their Christian life and discipleship, to break free from bondage to the past and experience healing, Emotional Healthy Spirituality is an eight-session video-based Bible study on the integration of emotional health and contemplative spirituality.

Many sincere followers of Christ, followers who are really passionate for God, join a church, participate weekly in a small group, serve with their gifts, and who are considered “mature,” remain stuck at a level of spiritual immaturity-especially when faced with interpersonal conflicts and crises.

The Emotionally Healthy Spirituality video study and companion study guide offer a strategy for discipleship that address this void, offering powerful pathways to transformation that will help people mature into a faith filled with authenticity and a profound love for God.

The eight sessions include:

  • The Problem of Emotionally Unhealthy Spirituality
  • Know Yourself that You May Know God
  • Going Back in Order to Go Forward
  • Journey through the Wall
  • Enlarge Your Soul through Grief and Loss
  • Discover the Rhythms of the Daily Office and Sabbath
  • Grow into an Emotionally Healthy Adult
  • Go to the Next Step to Develop a “Rule of Life”
