Jesus offers us LIFE – the life of the world to come. And he makes this LIFE available for everyone and anyone who will open themselves up to his Kingdom message.
Here at St Mary’s we want to enable everyone to access this LIFE as fully as possible and we want to help you, whatever age or life stage you are at, to engage in ways that will satisfy, challenge and stretch you.
Christianity is not a set of beliefs but a way of life. Having received forgiveness and renewal through Jesus he then calls us to participate in his life, his mission and his church. Here’s a few ways you can do this at St Mary’s.
Gathering for worship has been the principle way that Christian disciples have both expressed their allegiance to Christ and to his family – the church. Church is not something we attend. It is something we are. But we prioritise gathering as a ‘church’ each week to worship, to learn and to minister to one another. The best way of participating in this LIFE is with others who are committed to journeying with you.
St Mary’s is a multi-site church. Currently we gather at St Mary’s and also at the Heath Church. United in a common vision, we worship in a range of different places, times and styles so that all ages and people can find a place among us.
We each long for community, but we also need community to grow and change. That’s why we place such a high priority on LIFE GROUPS that meet in people’s homes each week. These are vital places of transformation, growth and change. If you are not already part of one do get in touch and we can help you work out which ones might be good to try out.
Missional Communities are larger small groups united around a shared mission.
As the name suggests, Missional Communties are both intentionally MISSIONAL and purposefully COMMUNAL. Outward focused they meet regularly in order to support and enable each other as they reach out to bless, serve and witness in the context that they share together.
Although each of them are different and unique, their structure is broadly the same as they attend to the three dimensions of life that Jesus himself attended to:
- Time with God (worship, prayer, scripture, teaching, giving thanks, etc)
- Time with other believers building a vibrant and caring community
- Time with those who don’t know Jesus yet.
Larger them the smaller Life Groups, they are mid-sized groups of people who want to make a difference in a particular area of life, or to reach out to a particular group of people, and who intentionally arrange the normal routines of their lives around this vision.
